NNPC Ltd. Appoints New Heads of Corporate Communications and Relations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of two accomplished professionals, Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, to key executive positions. Mr. Odeh has been named Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Adewunmi assumes the role of Chief Relations Officer.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the corporation.

Mr. Odeh brings with him more than 30 years of vast experience in communications and business administration spanning the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting sectors. Before joining NNPC, he built a distinguished 26-year career with Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held several leadership roles in Community Relations and Development, Business Logistics and Services, Information Management and Technology, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Government Relations and Regulatory Compliance, and most recently, General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development.

He is well-regarded for leading impactful public relations and advertising campaigns for major brands. At NLNG, he successfully managed the company’s rebranding and established one of Nigeria’s most effective micro-credit schemes for host communities. He also played a pivotal role in the creation of the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting. Mr. Odeh is an alumnus of the University of Jos, the University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), among others.

Mrs. Adewunmi, a seasoned legal practitioner, brings over 25 years of expertise in the oil and gas sector, with a strong focus on stakeholder management and advocacy. Her career at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN) saw her excel in critical roles, including Regulatory Affairs Manager—where she oversaw mandatory regulatory engagements and permits—and Government Relations Manager, where she fostered strong partnerships with the Presidency, ministries, departments, and agencies.

She is recognized for her exceptional leadership, emotional intelligence, and ability to build resilient stakeholder networks. An authority on non-technical risks, Mrs. Adewunmi holds a law degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and is a graduate of the Nigerian Law School.

NNPC Ltd. noted that the appointments of Mr. Odeh and Mrs. Adewunmi underscore the company’s dedication to strengthening communication and stakeholder engagement.
