NNPC slashes petrol pump price again
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has once more reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by N20 per litre.
Findings on Monday at several NNPC retail outlets in Abuja showed that petrol is now selling at N815 per litre, down from the previous price of N835.
The latest price adjustment was observed at NNPC filling stations located in Wuse Zones 4 and 6, along the Keffi–Abuja Road, and on the Kubwa Expressway. Sources within the company disclosed that the reduction followed internal directives approved on Sunday evening.
Despite the cut, NNPC’s current price remains N79 higher than the N739 per litre being sold at MRS filling stations across the country. MRS outlets are supplied by the Dangote Refinery, whose pricing strategy has continued to influence reductions in the downstream petroleum sector.
The development comes just weeks after NNPC, on December 19, 2025, announced an N80 reduction, bringing the pump price down to N835 per litre at the time.
That earlier decrease was widely linked to heightened competition in the fuel market after the Dangote Refinery reduced its gantry price to N699 per litre, triggering fresh price adjustments among petroleum marketers nationwide.
