NTAC DG Reaffirms President Tinubu’s Commitment to Continuous Development of ACP Countries* *_Liberian Minister Lauds FG on the Technical Aid Corps Scheme As Volunteers Reassure of Commitment to Service_

As part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to enhance bilateral relations and reinforce Nigeria’s foreign co-operation framework using the Technical Aid Corps scheme, Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps,Rt.

Hon.Yusuf Buba Yakub,has said that the Scheme exemplifies Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable diplomacy and South-South Cooperation.

He added that, for almost forty years the Scheme has continued to project Nigeria’s values of friendship and global development co-operation through the deployment of skilled Nigerian professionals who foster knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building and mutual solidarity.

Buba who stated the above,Thursday ,in Monrovia,Liberia, during a meeting with the Minister of Education of the country,Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah,said he was in the country to strengthen bilateral relations that exist between the Republic of Liberia and the Federal Republic of Nigeria using the TAC Scheme.

Providing a historical perspective to the TAC Scheme,Buba informed his host that the Technical Aid Corps Scheme was a flagship initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said it was designed about 38 years ago to promote bilateral relations and capacity development with African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries.

While reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu Administration to the progress and continuous development of Africa and African Diaspora,the NTAC DG noted that the core mission of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps is deeply aligned with President Tinubu’s 4-D Foreign Policy Agenda, encompassing
Democracy,Development,Demography and the
Diaspora.

Rt.Hon.Buba reiterated that his visit also was in search of an opportunity to seek improvements in the TAC Scheme by assessing and evaluating the impact of the Volunteer Programme in the host country, stressing that the ultimate goal of the foregoing was to leverage the outcome of his visit to deepen strategic cooperation with Liberia in line with shared development priorities of the both countries in relation to the TAC Mandate.

In her response ,the Liberian Minister extended deep appreciation to the Nigerian Government for its consistent partnership and development co-operation using the TAC Scheme, describing the contributions of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps as “instrumental to Liberia’s human capital development.”

Dr. Jallah also commended the Federal Republic of Nigeria for its continuous and unwavering support over the past years and emphasized the invaluable contributions of Nigerian Volunteers to Liberia’s national development, particularly in the Education Sector.

The voices of other speakers on the side of the Ministry also re-echoed the sentiments expressed by the Education Minister

Meanwhile,the NTAC delegation led by the DG availed itself the opportunity of the visit to meet with the Corps’ Volunteers serving in the country.

The interactive sessions held with the Volunteers provided an opportunity for the delegation to review the activities of the Volunteers and discuss various challenges and successes recorded in the course of their assignments.

The DG commended the dedication, professionalism and resilience of the Volunteers in executing their duties with results and excellence in mind. He assured them of the continuous institutional support of the Corps.

He again emphasized that the NTAC programme was a strategic tool in Nigeria’s foreign policy framework aimed at fostering mutual development, enhancing people-to-people diplomacy as well as strengthening bilateral ties with partner nations through technical cooperation, and urged them to do everything in their powers to continue to strengthen it.

He further noted that the Federal Government remained committed to ensuring that the contributions of Nigerian Volunteers abroad reflect the nation’s core values of service, excellence and unity at all times.

Led by the DG,the Nigerian delegation to the events comprised the Director of Programmes,NTAC,Amb.Zakari Usman;the Chargé d’Affaires of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Liberia, Mrs.Rahmat Bola Muhammed as well as other officials of the Nigerian Mission in Monrovia,Liberia.
