NUJ FCT Council Congratulates Raphael Oni on Appointment as Special Assistant on Digital, Public Diplomacy
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has congratulated Mr. Raphael Oni on his appointment as Special Assistant on Digital and Public Diplomacy to the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.
In a congratulatory statement signed by the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, the council described Oni’s appointment as a welcome development that would strengthen effective public diplomacy, strategic communication and digital engagement within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The council noted that Oni brings more than 15 years of professional experience spanning diplomatic reporting, government communication and photojournalism to his new role.
It also highlighted his experience as the publisher of Diplomats Extra Magazine, describing his professional background and institutional knowledge as valuable assets that would benefit both the Ministry and the Nigerian public.
Oni is also a former Secretary of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel, Abuja, where he served diligently and remained committed to the activities and ideals of the Union.
The NUJ FCT Council expressed confidence that he would deploy his wealth of experience to promote effective communication and serve as a worthy ambassador of the journalism profession in his new capacity.
The council further recalled Oni’s service as former Secretary-General of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria, noting that he had consistently demonstrated commitment to professional journalism, high ethical standards and collaboration among media practitioners.
“We are confident he will use his expertise to strengthen transparent, timely, and strategic communications that advance the Ministry’s mandate and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement said.
The NUJ FCT Council pledged its support and cooperation to Oni as he assumes his new responsibilities, while expressing optimism that his appointment would contribute to stronger engagement between the Ministry, the media and the Nigerian public.
The council also looked forward to a cordial and productive working relationship with Oni and the newly constituted media team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
