Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the appointment of Sir Festus Ighoteguono Ahon as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).

The approval which was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Sir Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje on Monday is with immediate effect.

Sir Ahon is a Knight of Anglican Communion of Ughelli Diocese who until his appointment was a senior Correspondent of the Vanguard Newspapers in Delta State, also an Ex-Officio of the National Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, a founding chairman of the NUJ Ughelli Correspondent Chapel.

He was also the Chairman of INEC Press Corp (IPC) in Delta State for the conduct of the 2023 general elections.

Reacting to the appointment of Sir Festus Ahon, the chairman of NUJ Ughelli Correspondents Chapel, Comrade Sunday Apah in a Press Release said, We, the members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ughelli Correspondents Chapel, wish to congratulate our Pioneer Chairman, Comrade Festus Ahon on his appointment as Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

His appointment is well deserved because he is a tested journalist with a track record of professional performance on his job.

The chapel has no doubt but implicit confidence that the appointee will bring his enormous wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment, and contribute handsomely to the actualization of the ‘MORE AGENDA’ of the governor.

The Chapel also uses the opportunity to thank H.E. Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State for appointing one of our own as his CPS.
