The Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, 25 October 2026, held an expanded caucus meeting at the Judges’ Quarters residence of its state leader and former Governor, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the party to officially introduce its candidates for various elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections. Discussions also focused on plans to establish the governorship campaign council and strengthen campaign operations across the 23 local government areas of Benue State.

Speaking at the meeting, the leader of the Benue PDP, Chief Samuel Ortom, called on members to reconnect with the principles upon which the party was founded in 1999, when it emerged with the mission of rescuing the people and providing effective leadership.

He emphasised that returning to these founding ideals was necessary to address the prevailing challenges facing the people of Benue and work towards a better future for the state.

Chief Ortom also appreciated party members for their contributions and support during the primary elections, which produced the PDP’s candidates for the various elective positions.

Senator Moro also criticised the performance of the incumbent administration, maintaining that Benue State needed a government built on integrity, transparency and a genuine commitment to the welfare of its citizens. He emphasised the need for leadership that would prioritise accountability and deliver meaningful democratic benefits to the people.

Speaking on behalf of the party’s candidates, Dr Emmanuel Ukaa thanked the PDP leadership and members for the trust and confidence demonstrated through their emergence as flag bearers.
