Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has been honoured with the prestigious title of “Ogbupere Uzo 1 of Ozuitem Land” by the Ozuitem Women Development Union (O.W.D.U).
The honour was conferred during the Union’s 2025 August Conference held in Ozuitem, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. Senator Kalu, who was unavoidably absent, was represented at the event by Barr. Victor Etie.
In his goodwill message, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to the women of Ozuitem for the recognition and pledged to remain committed to the growth and development of the community. He also made a handsome donation to the Union and reeled out additional developmental projects targeted not only at Ozuitem but across the Abia North Senatorial Zone.

Kalu reiterated his belief in women as partners in progress and assured the gathering that he would continue to support initiatives that uplift communities and foster unity.
The August Conference, an annual gathering of Ozuitem women at home and in the diaspora, serves as a platform to celebrate cultural heritage, discuss development issues, and strengthen bonds of unity among indigenes.
