President Tinubu Congratulates Senator John Azura – Mbata on Election as President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the new President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex socio-cultural organization representing the Igbo people.
Senator Azuta-Mbata, a distinguished former lawmaker who represented Rivers East Senatorial District from 1999 to 2007, was elected during the organization’s national meeting held in Enugu on Friday, January 10, 2025.
This was disclosed in a press release signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy)in Abuja on Friday.
President Tinubu commended the peaceful and successful transition of leadership within Ohanaeze Ndigbo, acknowledging the group’s importance in fostering unity and preserving cultural heritage.
He urged the newly elected leadership to build on the legacies of their predecessors by promoting peace, unity, and development among the Igbo people and Nigerians at large.
The President emphasized the significant role of socio-cultural organizations in nation-building, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups. He noted that such organizations are pivotal in promoting national cohesion and addressing socio-political issues through peaceful engagement.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Senator Azuta-Mbata would bring his wealth of experience to bear in leading Ohanaeze Ndigbo and advancing the interests of the Igbo people.
“I extend my best wishes to the newly elected president as he takes on this noble task of steering the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. May his tenure be marked by progress, peace, and unity among the Igbo people and the entire nation,” the President stated.
The President reiterated his administration’s readiness to work with all socio-cultural groups across the country to promote national development, unity, and shared prosperity.
