PRESIDENT TINUBU FLAGS OFF 2025 NCPC DELAYED EASTER PILGRIMAGE TO ISRAEL AND JORDAN IN OWERRI
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially flagged off the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission’s (NCPC) delayed Easter pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan. The ceremony took place at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of pilgrimage as a spiritual journey of faith. He commended the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, for his visionary leadership and the successful organization of four pilgrimages to the Holy Land.
The President further lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for his consistent support of the program, noting that the Governor sponsored 1,000 pilgrims in 2023 and another 1,000 in 2025.
“You should not even contemplate absconding because there is no country like Nigeria,” the President admonished the pilgrims.
In his remarks, Governor Hope Uzodimma expressed joy at hosting the flag-off in Imo State. “As you journey to the Holy Land, carry Nigeria in your hearts. Pray for peace, pray for Mr. President, and for God’s continued wisdom upon him,” he urged.
Also speaking, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Oti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, congratulated the pilgrims and underscored the pilgrimage as a journey of spiritual renewal.
The NCPC Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Uzodimma for their support. He also acknowledged the SGF for his effective oversight of the Commission and encouraged the pilgrims to be worthy ambassadors of Christ and Nigeria.
In a historic first for Imo State, about 350 intending Christian pilgrims from Imo and Abia States were airlifted directly from the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, to the Holy Land.
