A new free online Russian language course has been launched by the “Gateway to Russia” project, offering beginners around the world an opportunity to learn the language at their own pace.

The programme, designed for absolute beginners, provides round-the-clock access and introduces learners to the fundamentals of the Russian language, including the alphabet, pronunciation, basic vocabulary, and grammar.

According to the organisers, the course combines language instruction with cultural immersion, allowing participants to explore Russia while developing elementary-level language skills.

A unique feature of the programme is its storyline, which follows the journey of an English traveller named John as he travels across Russia aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway. Through dialogues, videos, interactive exercises, and tests, learners are exposed to everyday language and cultural experiences from different parts of the country.

Organisers said every exercise includes English translations and audio support to make learning more accessible and engaging for international students.

The course is expected to help participants achieve the A1 (Elementary) level of Russian proficiency while gaining insights into Russian society, traditions, and geography.

Describing the programme as free, flexible, and user-friendly, the organisers encouraged anyone interested in learning Russian to enrol and begin their studies online.
