SDP Women Rally Behind Adebayo After INEC Confirmation

The National Speaker of the Women Parliament of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ambassador Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdullahi, has welcomed the publication of Prince Adewole Adebayo’s name by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s presidential candidate, describing it as a clear indication of the SDP’s readiness to present Nigerians with a credible alternative in the forthcoming presidential election.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Abdullahi said the development marks a major milestone for the party, adding that it reflects the commitment of the National Working Committee (NWC) while reinforcing confidence in the party’s leadership and internal democratic process.
She noted that the official publication of the SDP’s presidential ticket, comprising Prince Adewole Adebayo and his running mate, Dr. Usman Mohammed Bugaje, demonstrates the party’s preparedness to offer leadership anchored on good governance, social justice, economic prosperity and the rule of law. According to her, the party is confident that Adebayo possesses the character, competence and vision needed to tackle Nigeria’s challenges and provide purposeful leadership for national renewal.
The statement also commended INEC for conducting the nomination process in line with the principles of fairness, transparency and due process. It added that the increasing acceptance of the SDP across the country reflects Nigerians’ desire for a credible political alternative built on integrity, inclusiveness and people-centred governance. Abdullahi called on women, youths, party members and supporters to remain united, intensify grassroots mobilisation, promote issue-based campaigns and effectively communicate the party’s vision for a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Nigeria. She further appealed to Nigerians to pray for Prince Adebayo, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance, while reaffirming the commitment of the SDP Women Parliament to mobilising women nationwide in support of the party’s programmes and presidential ticket ahead of the election.
