The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a security guard in connection with the gruesome murder of a 55-year-old caregiver, Mrs.

Chinyere Anaene, and a one-year-old toddler, Nanenter Yese, at Clear Hope Foundation Academy in Dawaki, Abuja.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the command received a distress call on July 23 reporting the disappearance of Mrs.

Anaene, a nurse at the school, along with the child left in her care.

“Later that day, while still at the station, the caregiver’s husband received a ransom demand of ₦250 million through her mobile phone,” SP Adeh revealed.

Acting swiftly, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command launched an investigation using digital forensic tools, which led officers to track the suspects and victims to Yelwa and Uke in Nasarawa State. A school security guard was arrested during the operation.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to conspiring with an accomplice to carry out the crime. He confessed that Mrs. Anaene was lured into a school bathroom and strangled, after which the toddler was also killed in a similarly horrifying manner.
