Sen. Orji Kalu Installed as AUBA Grand Patron, Donates ₦100 Million to Boost South East Economic Growth

The Akuluno United Brothers Association (AUBA), a leading pan-Igbo socio-cultural and economic development group, has bestowed the title of Grand Patron on Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, MON, during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday in Enugu.

The announcement was contained in a brief statement issued by the Senator on his verified social media handle and reported by The SUN.

According to AUBA, Kalu’s installation is in recognition of his enduring contributions to the economic, political, and social advancement of the South East. The honour aligns with the association’s core mission of promoting sustainable growth, enhancing wealth creation, and expanding job opportunities across Ala-Igbo.

Reaffirming his commitment to this mission, Senator Kalu made a landmark donation of ₦100 million to support AUBA’s ongoing and future developmental programmes in the region.

He was represented at the event by his brother, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, who also contributed ₦10 million, bringing the total donation from the Kalu family to ₦110 million.

Conveying the Senator’s remarks, Chief Mascot reiterated Kalu’s unwavering support for AUBA’s objectives and emphasized the need for collective efforts to tackle the region’s economic challenges. He praised the association’s leadership and encouraged sustained unity in advancing economic empowerment within the South East.

Kalu also extended warm congratulations to AUBA’s National President, High Chief Mike Ejiofor, along with all members of the association, for their steadfast dedication to community development.
