The Sokoto State Government has called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, development partners, community leaders and other stakeholders to sustain development interventions and tackle critical infrastructure challenges in communities across the state.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Bashir Muhammad Achida, made the call during the State Steering Committee Meeting of the Resilience, Engagement and Conflict Prevention for At-Risk Populations’ Protection (RECAP) Project in the state.

He commended the community-based interventions being implemented under the RECAP project, particularly those focused on improving agricultural productivity, healthcare delivery, education and access to essential social services.

Dr. Achida also underscored the importance of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), under his Ministry, as a strategic partner in addressing community development needs.

He noted that its World Bank-supported programme offers opportunities for collaboration and additional funding for critical interventions.

The Commissioner urged stakeholders to move beyond identifying challenges and concentrate on developing practical solutions that would improve accessibility and ensure the delivery of essential services to rural communities.

Speaking, the Special Adviser on Donor Agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations, Alhaji Abubakar Walin Gagi, expressed appreciation for the numerous interventions of the RECAP project across different communities.

In her remarks, the RECAP Consortium Coordinator, Remikat Blessing Ayuba, said the EU-supported project, implemented by Action Against Hunger, Alert International and Save the Child Initiative, seeks to strengthen community resilience, promote engagement and prevent conflicts while protecting vulnerable and at-risk populations in nine local government areas.
