The South East Senate Caucus has praised the Dangote Group, describing its refinery and petrochemical complex as a monumental investment that has firmly placed Nigeria on the global map of successful and resilient entrepreneurs.

During a visit to the multi-billion-dollar Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, over the weekend, the caucus also commended the Federal Government for its fiscal policies that encourage local manufacturing and drive Nigeria toward becoming a productive economy.

Led by their Chairman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senators urged the Federal Government to sustain its support for Nigerian industrialists and entrepreneurs, serving as a strong pillar for the nation’s growing industrial base until full self-reliance is achieved.

The Vice President of the Dangote Group, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, who conducted the lawmakers on a tour of the massive and highly integrated facility—which includes a fertilizer plant and a jetty—revealed that the company is already expanding the refinery to triple its current production capacity of 650,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) per day, along with other petroleum by-products such as gas.

He reiterated the Group’s commitment to expanding Nigeria’s energy sector to ensure sufficiency in refined products for both domestic use and export. Mr. Edwin further noted that Dangote Group takes pride in proving that a Nigerian can independently lead an energy revolution that positions the country as a key global energy destination.

In his response, Senator Abaribe expressed deep admiration for Aliko Dangote’s patriotism and dedication to national development.

“We are amazed by what we have seen. This plant is an institution—a source of pride not only to Nigerians but to the entire African continent. It stands as proof that the future of our nation is bright. We urge you not to relent. We truly appreciate your commitment and belief in Nigeria despite global economic pressures,” Abaribe said.

He assured that the South East Senate Caucus would continue to support indigenous entrepreneurs and industrialists through legislative measures that promote ease of doing business in the country.
