Tinubu Set to Approve Fresh Salary Boost for Military Personnel

President Bola Tinubu is expected to approve a fresh salary increase for members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria as part of ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel.

The Minister of Defence, Retired General Christopher Musa, disclosed this during a training and financial empowerment workshop for widows and wives of service personnel held in Abuja.
General Musa recalled that military salaries were increased to ₦100,000 during his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff, adding that discussions are ongoing to secure an even better remuneration package for personnel.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of troops and their families, stressing that a strong and effective military is built on economically stable households. He also commended military spouses and widows for their resilience and unwavering support for personnel serving on the frontlines.
The workshop, organised by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with SMEDAN, saw the disbursement of ₦25 million to 500 widows and wives of serving soldiers to support their businesses and promote financial inclusion.
