The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the preparedness of major infrastructure projects scheduled for commissioning this week by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking after inspecting the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), N5 Road in Life Camp, and the Airport-Kuje Roads in Abuja, Wike stated that all three projects have been fully completed and are ready for inauguration.

The minister said the inspection exercise confirmed that the contractors had fulfilled their commitments and delivered the projects as agreed.
According to him, President Tinubu will begin the commissioning exercise with the OSEX Road on Tuesday, followed by the N5 Life Camp Road on Wednesday, while the Airport-Kuje Road will be commissioned on Thursday.
“You can see we are very set, and you can see the smiles on our faces. The three projects are 100 percent complete and ready for commissioning,” Wike said.
He noted that meeting the project deadlines represents a significant achievement for the administration.
The minister commended the contractors responsible for the projects, including CGC, Arab Contractors and Julius Berger, for delivering quality work within the stipulated timeframe.
Wike described the quality of the projects as satisfactory and deserving of praise.
He also expressed happiness over the positive feedback from residents regarding the ongoing infrastructure development across the FCT.
According to him, the administration is encouraged by the appreciation shown by Abuja residents for the projects being executed.
On the commencement of operations at the newly completed bus terminals, Wike explained that the process is tied to government procurement procedures.
He disclosed that the Federal Executive Council had already approved the procurement process for engaging a private operator to manage the facilities.
The minister added that the selected operator is currently making the necessary arrangements, including procuring buses and taxis, to ensure seamless operations.
He appealed to residents to remain patient, assuring them that the government is committed to making the facilities fully operational.
“Government process is not easy. Bureaucracy is involved, but once those processes are completed, people should be patient. There is no reason for government to invest resources in such facilities and leave them unused,” Wike assured.
Responding to questions on whether President Tinubu would personally commission projects in satellite towns, the minister declined to reveal specific locations for security reasons.
However, he assured residents that the President would visit projects outside the city centre as part of the commissioning activities.
Wike described the commissioning exercise as one of the administration’s happiest moments, attributing the achievements to the leadership and support of President Tinubu.
He commended the President for providing the direction and resources needed to complete both ongoing and inherited projects.
The minister further stated that true leadership is demonstrated through the completion of projects initiated by previous administrations.
According to him, continuity in governance remains crucial for achieving sustainable development and improved infrastructure for residents.
Addressing concerns about traffic management during the commissioning ceremonies, Wike confirmed that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) would issue traffic advisories to guide motorists and reduce disruptions during the events.
