Wike Revokes PDP’s New Secretariat Land
By Iyojo Ameh
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocation for the proposed new secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja’s Central Area.
A statement issued by the FCT Administration on Tuesday cited “inconsistent documentation and non-compliance with regulatory procedures” as reasons for the revocation.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State known for his tough stance on governance, defended the decision, emphasizing that it aligns with his administration’s commitment to transparency and adherence to land-use policies in the capital city.
“The decision was taken in the interest of the public good and to uphold the integrity of our land administration system,” Wike told journalists in Abuja.
The revocation has sparked controversy, given the strategic location of the land within Abuja’s political and commercial hub.
Reacting to the development, the PDP condemned the move, calling it politically motivated and an attempt to weaken the opposition.
“This decision is an outright attack on the PDP and an attempt to stifle the opposition in the country,” the party said in a statement, vowing to challenge the revocation in court.
Meanwhile, the FCT Administration has not disclosed any plans for the reallocation of the revoked land.
