It was horrifying and shocking on how a 100-level student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana, allegedly ended his life after catching his girlfriend in bed with another man

The incident was said to have happened on Wednesday, April 16.

According to various reports, the boy decided to visit his girlfriend’s hostel unannounced only to find her in bed with another male student.

It was learnt that the boy was highly devastated by the discovery so much so that he fainted on the spot and had to be carried back to his hostel.

It was said that when the boy regained his consciousness, he later went to hang himself.

According to eyewitness account, the young man allegedly collapsed after unexpectedly discovering his girlfriend in an intimate situation with another individual at Ghana Universities Staff Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS) Hall Two.

A video making the rounds on social media shows university officials and police officers removing his body from the hostel premises, as investigations into the incident continue.

Reactions online have been a mix of grief, shock, and harsh criticism. While many mourn the loss, others have described his action as an avoidable tragedy, urging young people to seek emotional support during difficult moments rather than resorting to self-harm.

The university is yet to release an official statement on the incident.

However, the Ghana Police Service has commenced a thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
