Benue: Gov Alia Approves Construction of Ujima Bridge in Konshisha LGA
From Dooshima Terkura, Makurdi
As part of ongoing efforts to extend development across communities in the state, Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the construction of the Ujima Bridge in Mbayegh/Mbaiker Council Ward of Konshisha Local Government Area (LGA).
The Technical Adviser to Governor Alia on Infrastructure, Engr. Mlumun Ikpaahindi, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Makurdi. She said the development has brought smiles to members of the community who have faced challenges accessing the area for years.
Ikpaahindi, who is from the community, expressed appreciation to the Governor for initiating the bridge project. She explained that she facilitated the project through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), and it subsequently received the governor’s approval.
According to her, the contractor has already mobilized to site after being introduced to community members to ensure smooth operations.
She stated, “I want to, on behalf of the entire community, heartily thank our Governor for this wonderful dividend of democracy, and also extend our thanks to the State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Hon. Stephen Numbeve.”
Ikpaahindi commended the governor for transforming Benue State by opening up rural areas to boost economic activities, adding that the bridge, once completed, will ease the movement of people, goods, and services within and around the community.
She urged the community to protect the workers and logistics, noting that the project will be beneficial to both present and future generations.
The Adviser recalled that RAAMP was established in Nigeria with the mandate to support agricultural marketing through rural road construction, easing transportation to major markets.
She added that the bridge is expected to significantly boost socio-economic activities in the area, which is known for its agricultural produce.
