Breaking News: Wike Cautions Against External Influence Destroying PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has delivered a strong warning to individuals who defected from other political parties to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that such persons will not be permitted to jeopardize the party’s future.

Addressing attendees at the PDP’s 104th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Wike accused a faction within the party of flouting court directives by organizing what he described as an “illegal convention,” in clear disregard of Federal High Court rulings.

“We will not allow those we received from other parties to destroy the PDP,” Wike declared, underscoring the need for strict adherence to judicial processes as a means of restoring public trust in the party.

The Minister further berated the faction for attempting to seek validation from another court after conducting their convention without complying with earlier judgments. “How can you ignore two final judgments and still claim to be the leadership?” he queried.

To steer the party through its current transition phase, Wike’s camp has inaugurated a 13-member caretaker committee headed by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, following the expiration of the tenure of the existing National Working Committee.

The initiative, according to Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), is aimed at ensuring continuity in administration, strengthening unity, and maintaining stability within the PDP. He added that the transition arrangement is in full alignment with the party’s constitution and supports ongoing internal reforms.
