APC Speakers Elect Nasarawa Speaker Jatau, Pledges Commitment and Stability

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, Ph.D, has emerged as the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Speakers Conference.
Dr. Jatau was elected through a consensus arrangement by Speakers of State Houses of Assembly elected on the platform of the ruling APC across the country.


The election took place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, during the APC Speakers Conference held in Abuja.
In his acceptance speech, the Nasarawa lawmaker expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the opportunity to serve at the national level and appreciated his colleagues for the confidence they reposed in him.
Dr. Jatau assured members of the Conference that he would diligently discharge his responsibilities, pledging renewed commitment to the ideals of the APC Speakers Conference and service to the nation. He also promised to introduce innovations that would promote stability and enhance development across the country.
According to him, his emergence through consensus was a source of joy not only to him but also to the people of Nasarawa State, stressing that he would not take the trust placed in him for granted.
“My election by my distinguished colleagues through consensus is a thing of joy and happiness to me, my people and my state. I will not take it for granted, and I will work hard to justify the confidence reposed in me by the grace of God,” he said.
He further thanked God for the honour and appreciated his colleagues for trusting him with the position, assuring them that he would not disappoint.
“I thank God Almighty for this honour, and I also thank my Rt. Hon. colleagues for electing me into this position and for having trust in me. I will not disappoint you,” Dr. Jatau added.
