The political atmosphere in Kogi East witnessed a major boost on Wednesday as thousands of supporters, APC loyalists, youth groups, women organizations, and stakeholders gathered in Anyigba to show solidarity with Distinguished Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho) following his formal declaration to seek a third term in the Senate.

The declaration ceremony, held at the APC Secretariat in Anyigba, was regarded by political observers as more than a routine political event, describing it as a demonstration of grassroots strength, party unity, and increasing momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters from the nine local government areas of Kogi East began arriving early in the day, chanting support songs and displaying banners in solidarity with the senator, creating an atmosphere that reflected confidence in his leadership and continued political relevance.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Senator Echocho explained that his decision to seek another term was driven by the desire to sustain purposeful representation and continue protecting the interests of Kogi East at the National Assembly.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, APC leaders, traditional rulers, youths, women, and supporters for their consistent loyalty and encouragement during his time in office.
According to the senator, the massive support and confidence demonstrated by the people serve as a reminder that the mission of development and quality representation must continue beyond 2027.
Echocho stated that his years in the Senate have provided Kogi East with a stronger national voice while also attracting visible projects, empowerment programmes, and interventions across communities within the district.
He assured supporters that he remains committed to bringing more opportunities, infrastructural projects, and economic empowerment initiatives to the people if re-elected.
In an emotional moment during the event, the senator specially acknowledged the Auditor General, YY Okala, describing him as a dependable ally whose loyalty, strategic backing, and dedication have remained valuable throughout the political journey.
The gathering later transformed into a celebration of political confidence as stakeholders from different communities openly endorsed the senator for another term, insisting that his accessibility, popularity, and performance have earned him the trust of the electorate.
Several speakers at the event noted that Senator Echocho’s grassroots influence and ability to unite political structures across Kogi East position him strongly ahead of the 2027 elections.
They maintained that beyond politics, the senator has established a lasting relationship with ordinary people through regular engagement, empowerment initiatives, and developmental projects that have positively affected lives across the district.
Observers described the Anyigba rally as one of the largest political mobilizations witnessed in Kogi East in recent times, with many supporters insisting that the massive turnout sent a clear message that the district remains firmly behind Echocho’s continued representation in the Senate.
