AIT Pledges Live Coverage, Media Support for Maiden Women in Security Summit and Awards 2026

The management of African Independent Television (AIT) has pledged extensive media support, including live coverage of the maiden edition of the Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The commitment was made when the National Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and Chairperson of the WINSEC Central Planning Committee, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, led members of the WINSEC Secretariat on a courtesy visit to the management of DAAR Communications Plc, owners of AIT, in Abuja.

Receiving the delegation, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AIT, Chief Marcel Anyanyechi, commended NAWOJ for initiating the summit, describing it as a timely platform for recognising the courage, dedication and sacrifices of women contributing to Nigeria’s security architecture.

Anyanyechi said the WINSEC Summit and Awards would inspire patriotism, excellence and stronger commitment among security personnel and other stakeholders working to promote national security.

He stressed the need for greater collaboration among the media, security agencies, government and citizens in tackling security challenges, noting that safeguarding the nation requires collective responsibility.

Speaking on behalf of the board, management and staff of AIT, the CEO assured the WINSEC team of the organisation’s full backing towards the success of the event.

Earlier, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim expressed appreciation to AIT management for its support and commitment to the success of the initiative.

She explained that WINSEC was conceived as a strategic platform to deepen conversations around security, peacebuilding, gender inclusion, leadership and national development, while celebrating women and other individuals making significant contributions to Nigeria’s security sector.

The maiden Women in Security Summit and Awards 2026, themed “Celebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Women in Securing the Nation,” will hold on June 30, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.

The summit is expected to attract stakeholders from the security, media, governance and civil society sectors to discuss national security, gender inclusion and leadership, while honouring outstanding women and other champions contributing to peace and development in Nigeria.
