Barau Celebrates Super Falcons’ 10th WAFCON Title, Praises Team’s Spirit and Resilience
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has congratulated Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, on their historic triumph at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), held on Saturday.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the team’s 3-2 victory over Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses in the final at the Rabat Olympic Stadium as a powerful display of resilience, skill, and patriotic spirit.
The win marks Nigeria’s tenth WAFCON title, reaffirming the Super Falcons’ dominance in African women’s football.
“I extend heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons and to all Nigerians for this historic achievement at the 2025 WAFCON,” Barau said. “The team’s success is a reflection of their unwavering determination, exceptional talent, and the enduring spirit of our nation. This is a proud moment for all of us.”
Senator Barau, founder of Barau Football Club—recently promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a stellar run in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs—commended the Super Falcons for setting a shining example.
“The players demonstrated remarkable discipline and drive throughout the tournament. Their performance will surely inspire countless young Nigerian girls to pursue their dreams,” he added.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the coaching crew, the Nigeria Football Federation, and other key stakeholders for their roles in the team’s outstanding success.
