A capacity national leader, Cardinal Comrade Franklyn Edede, has spoken on recent developments within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), emerging political alignments, and key national discussions.
Edede made his views known in a statement released on Monday.

His remarks centred on the recent involvement of Prof. Pat Utomi in the ADC, the growing debate surrounding the Atiku–Obi 2027 presidency, and other issues currently shaping public discourse in Nigeria.
In the statement, Edede described Prof. Pat Utomi’s entry into the ADC as unfortunate, cautioning that it could negatively affect the party’s unity and direction. He stressed the need for vigilance within political structures to ensure that party ideals and objectives are protected, and that members work towards collective growth.
The capacity national leader further alleged that Utomi’s involvement could carry elements capable of destabilising the ADC from within, portraying him as a potential mole seeking to influence internal decisions. He called on party members and stakeholders to remain committed to unity and constructive engagement in order to safeguard the party’s core mission.
On national politics, Edede spoke on the Atiku–Obi 2027 presidency discourse, noting that conversations around leadership alignment and political strategy are gaining momentum as the country moves closer to the next general elections. He urged political actors to place national interest and responsible leadership above all else as these discussions evolve.
Addressing broader governance issues, he called on political leaders across Nigeria to uphold accountability, transparency, and clarity in policy direction. He emphasised that national progress depends on strong leadership that is responsive to citizens’ needs and firmly rooted in democratic values.
Highlighting the importance of discipline and cohesion within political parties, especially amid increasing internal and external pressures, Edede stressed that parties must focus on ideological consistency and practical strategies that serve the broader society rather than personal ambitions.
The statement has drawn attention from political analysts, civic observers, and party stakeholders, many of whom consider the comments relevant to ongoing opposition party dynamics and the wider national political landscape. Observers noted that his views could shape discussions on party leadership, alliances, and policy focus ahead of 2027.
As Nigeria moves towards another electoral cycle, the capacity national leader’s intervention adds momentum to ongoing debates on leadership, party loyalty, and strategic planning, underscoring the importance of clarity, unity, and vision in national political discourse.
