:
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six members of a kidnapping and “one chance” syndicate as part of ongoing efforts to rid the nation’s capital of criminal elements.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, said the suspects, led by 35-year-old Ifeoma Nnamchi, allegedly abducted a young woman in Maitama, demanded a ₦20 million ransom, and eventually collected ₦8.25 million before releasing her.
He explained that police operatives tracked the gang to Niger State, where the suspects were arrested in Suleja. The operatives recovered the full ransom, two operational vehicles, and other exhibits linked to the crime.
The police commissioner further disclosed that Ifeoma Nnamchi and one of her accomplices had previously been arrested for similar offences but later returned to criminal activities.
