Nigeria Strengthens Diplomatic Presence in Israel as New Ambassador Presents Credentials

Nigeria has reinforced its diplomatic engagement with the State of Israel following the formal presentation of Letters of Credence by its new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, to Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The credential ceremony, held on Monday in Jerusalem, officially signalled the commencement of Ambassador Ufochukwu’s diplomatic mission and underscored Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding bilateral relationship with Israel.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new envoy pledged to work towards deepening cooperation between both countries in line with Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities.

Ambassador Ufochukwu said her tenure would focus on expanding collaboration in key sectors, including trade and investment, agriculture, technology, security, innovation and cultural exchanges, while promoting stronger people-to-people relations.

She noted that enhanced cooperation in these areas would create new opportunities for economic development, knowledge transfer and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The Ministry expressed confidence that Ambassador Ufochukwu’s appointment would further consolidate the strategic partnership between Nigeria and Israel and facilitate broader cooperation for sustainable development.

The presentation of Letters of Credence formally authorises an ambassador to represent their country in the host nation and marks the official beginning of their diplomatic assignment.
