Nigerian Envoy Presents Credentials to Sierra Leone’s President, Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Ties

Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Sierra Leone following the formal presentation of Letters of Credence by its High Commissioner, Ambassador Ayo Luther Ogbomode, to President Julius Maada Bio in Freetown.
The presentation, which took place at the State House, marks the official commencement of Ambassador Ogbomode’s diplomatic mission to Sierra Leone, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During a meeting after the ceremony, the Nigerian envoy conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to President Bio, reaffirming Nigeria’s resolve to deepen the longstanding friendship, cooperation and brotherhood between the two countries.
Ambassador Ogbomode also congratulated President Bio on his emergence as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen regional integration, democratic governance, economic growth, peace and security across West Africa.
Responding, President Bio expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the Nigerian government for their continued goodwill and support, while reaffirming Sierra Leone’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Nigeria in key sectors including trade, investment, education, security, capacity building and regional integration.
He described Nigeria and Sierra Leone as long-standing partners bound by shared history, mutual respect and common aspirations, adding that he looks forward to working closely with Nigeria in advancing the objectives of ECOWAS.
President Bio also acknowledged Nigeria’s historic contributions to restoring peace during Sierra Leone’s civil conflict, commending the country’s leadership and sacrifices in support of regional stability and describing them as a legacy that continues to be appreciated by the Sierra Leonean people.
