The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has underscored the importance of physical exercise as a vital tool for maintaining both physical fitness and mental alertness among public servants.

According to him, these attributes are crucial for generating the energy and concentration needed to drive effective service delivery and boost productivity in the workplace.

Speaking over the weekend after leading members of NTAC Management on a 45-minute fitness walk at the popular Jabi Lake Sports Field opposite the NTAC Complex in Abuja, the NTAC boss reiterated the strong link between physical wellbeing and improved work output. He also hinted that the agency would institutionalize a weekly fitness walk for all staff.

> “We all know the importance of physical fitness to our work as public servants. If we fail to engage our bodies to stay active, even our brains won’t function optimally,” Yakub stated.

“Our daily routines — from home to office and back — often deny us the opportunity for the simple exercise of walking long enough to maintain good health. Today’s walk is meant to encourage us to stay active, avoid the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle, keep fit, and better contribute to driving Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda through our work in NTAC. We intend to make this part of our official programmes,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps has now designated the close of work every Wednesday for a compulsory physical fitness walk for all staff members who are not hindered by any form of illness or incapacity.

In an internal circular signed by Ambassador Saidu D. Muhammad, Deputy Director of Administration, and circulated on Monday at the NTAC Complex, all staff were notified of the new exercise routine scheduled to commence on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The circular also confirmed that the walking sessions would take place at the Jabi Lake Sports Field, opposite the NTAC headquarters.
