The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has announced that it will confer the “Trailblazer in Tabloid Journalism Award” on Mrs. Moji Danisa, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s media landscape.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary of Council, Mr.
Jide Oyekunle, who described Danisa as a hard-hitting investigative journalist, television presenter, producer, scriptwriter, and documentist. He noted that her fearless pursuit of truth and professionalism has pushed the boundaries of tabloid journalism in the country.“Rising quickly through the ranks to become a sub-editor and later leading her own media ventures, Moji has demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in storytelling that resonates widely with the public,” the statement read.
He further lauded Danisa for her ability to combine investigative depth with popular appeal, setting new standards in the tabloid genre and inspiring a generation of young journalists to pursue impactful and audience-driven reporting.
“Her work is characterised by fearless reporting and a commitment to uncovering truths that matter, making her a respected figure in Nigerian journalism,” Oyekunle said.
Beyond her contributions to journalism, the Council acknowledged Moji Danisa’s entrepreneurial spirit, which has earned her several prestigious recognitions, underscoring her influence both within and outside the newsroom.
“This award recognizes Moji Danisa not only as a pioneer but as a queen of the craft—someone who has transformed tabloid journalism into a powerful platform for truth, entertainment, and social change,” the NUJ FCT Council stated.
The Council also used the opportunity to call for more women to step into bold roles within journalism, urging those who may have strayed from ethical paths to reflect and seek redirection.
“Congratulations, Dear Ma,” the statement concluded.
