The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has formally accepted the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria delivered on April 30, 2026, which upheld the nullification of the party’s November 2025 national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

This position was conveyed in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the BoT Chairman, Mao Ohuabunwa.

The BoT noted that the apex court’s ruling aligns with earlier judgments by the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, both of which had invalidated the convention and all structures that emerged from it.
Describing itself as the conscience and moral compass of the party, the BoT emphasized its full respect for the Supreme Court’s decision, stating that the legal position is now “clear and unambiguous.”
Following the judgment, the BoT clarified that the nullification of the Ibadan convention confirms the legitimacy of the current leadership led by National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, as the rightful authorities managing the party’s affairs.
The statement further reassured members that the party remains fully operational and will continue to function in accordance with its 2017 amended constitution, while taking proactive measures to strengthen unity and stability ahead of upcoming elections.
As part of efforts to resolve internal disputes, the BoT directed the National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately establish a National Reconciliation Committee tasked with engaging aggrieved members across the country.
The party also called on its members to remain united, disciplined, and dedicated to its ideals, reiterating its commitment to delivering credible leadership for Nigeria.
