‘Stop calling me Davido’s wife’ – Sophia Momodu cautions fans

Sophia Momodu, a businesswoman and the mother of singer Davido’s first child, has cautioned fans against referring to her as the music star’s wife.

In a video message shared online, Momodu disclosed that although she and Davido ended their relationship several years ago and the singer is now married, some fans still address her as his wife.
She stated that she finds such references uncomfortable and inappropriate, stressing the need to respect people’s personal decisions and boundaries.
According to her, she has long moved on from her past relationship with the award-winning artiste and urged fans to do the same.
Recalling a recent encounter, Momodu said she once met a content creator who greeted her as “Mama Imade, OBO’s wife,” a remark that left her shocked.
“I am not his wife,” she said firmly. “Please stop calling me Davido’s wife. Let us respect people’s marriages and the rules that come with them. When people have moved on, they should be allowed to do so peacefully. Everyone is happy and focused on what they are meant to be doing.”
Momodu’s message was a clear call for fans to respect her individuality and acknowledge the reality of her current life, separate from her past relationship with the singer.
