Warri Wolves Clinch First Away Victory Delta Sports Boss Credits Governor Oborevwori’s Support
Newly promoted Warri Wolves Football Club secured their first away win of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday, defeating Katsina United 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
The decisive goal came in the 76th minute through forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma, whose strike earned the Seasiders a hard-fought three points in a tightly contested encounter.
Reacting to the result, Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, commended the team and coaching crew for their resilience. He attributed the landmark win to the steadfast support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting the administration’s continued investment in sports development across the state.
“This victory is a testament to the governor’s commitment to sports and the determination of our boys. Warri Wolves are back in the topflight to compete, and this result shows they mean business,” Oborevwori said.
The triumph is particularly significant as it marks a milestone in the club’s return to top-tier football following their recent promotion.
Warri Wolves will next welcome Enugu Rangers on August 31 at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, where fans are expected to troop out in large numbers to support the team.
