2027 Presidency: Elder Statesman Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu Endorses Senator Orji Kalu’s Five-Month Campaign Strategy for Tinubu
Elder statesman and renowned businessman, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, has thrown his weight behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s recent declaration to dedicate five months in Abia State towards ensuring victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State and the current representative of Abia North Senatorial District, made the announcement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He vowed to campaign “day and night” across Abia and the Southeast to secure a landmark victory for President Tinubu.“In 2023, I didn’t put in all my best, but in 2027, I will live there for five months, campaigning day and night; it will deliver Abia for Tinubu and APC,” Kalu stated.
Reacting to the senator’s remarks, Chief Ukaegbu commended Kalu’s courage, loyalty, and commitment to the President and the ruling party. He said Kalu’s statement reflected his deep grassroots connection and enduring political influence in Abia.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu remains one of the most consistent and result-oriented leaders Abia has ever produced,” Ukaegbu said. “His decision to remain in Abia for months to campaign shows not just dedication but a genuine belief in President Tinubu’s leadership and the APC’s potential to transform the Southeast.”
Chief Ukaegbu further applauded Kalu’s long-standing contributions to youth empowerment and education, noting that many professionals and entrepreneurs in Abia today benefited from programmes initiated during Kalu’s administration between 1999 and 2007.
“Kalu’s record in youth development and education is unmatched. Many Abians still recall the free education, scholarships, job opportunities, and empowerment programmes he introduced as governor,” he added.
He also highlighted Kalu’s enduring popularity across all sectors of Abia society—including traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, and youths—crediting it to his performance in office and ongoing philanthropic efforts.
“Orji Kalu is still deeply loved by the people. Traditional institutions, churches, civil servants, and our vibrant youths continue to hold him in high esteem. That is why Tinubu will perform strongly in Abia. Kalu’s name commands respect and affection everywhere,” Ukaegbu said.
While praising Kalu’s political foresight, the elder statesman urged other politicians to develop their own campaign strategies rather than criticize the senator’s approach.
“Democracy allows everyone to express their vision. Those who don’t share Kalu’s method should present their own strategies—that’s the beauty of democratic engagement,” he advised.
Chief Ukaegbu concluded by calling on all political actors in Abia to prioritize peace, unity, and development as the 2027 campaigns intensify, emphasizing that the state’s progress should remain the collective goal.
