“I won’t Mourn:My Wife Died Praying To Allah-“-Husband Of Late Editor

The former Executive Director of Lower Niger River Development Authority,Chief Abdullahi Ohiomah has reaffirmed his faith in Paradise as his wife, late Hajia Ramatu Alih -Ohiomah died while saying her evening prayers (Magrib).
Speaking to our correspondent at 8th day funeral prayer(Fidau) , Chief Ohiomah averred that his wife was not only a pious and faithful, he found her death in the course of saying her evening prayers. He pointed out that God’s mercy abound in eternity for those who died in the course of obeying Allah ‘s commandments.
Chief Ohiomah re-echoed the spiritual submission of the Chief Imam of Lokoja Central Mosque, Sheikh Mohammed Amin Shaban , who reiterated in the course of Qur’anic recitation that paradise is an abode for those who obeyed Allah ‘s injuctions instead of yielding to earthly pressure.

Hajia Ramatu,a former member of Editorial Board of New Nigerian Newspapers and Daily Trust, was rushed to hospital in Abuja when she couldn’t raise up from her prayer rug. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors confirmed her dead.
Chief Ohiomah described his wife as a diligent writer, reliable and a dependable partner in good and stormy times. ” Certainly,I have missed a reliable counselor and a home maker”,he added.
The Fidau prayer in Lokoja attracted Islamic clerics, politicians from all political divides , relations,academia,FOMWAN, traditional rulers and media executives.
Ohiomah a traditional title holder in Ata Igala Palace, prayed to to God to reward all those who stood with the family during this moment of grief.
Hajia Ramatu worked with the Benue State House of Assembly in 1983 and later resigned to join New Nigerian Newspapers where she rose through ranks to be Plateau State correspondent, Women Editor, Associate Editor and member of the Editorial Board. In 2010 ,he resigned from NNN and joined Daily Trust as member of the Editorial Board. He later resigned to set up a Biographical centre.

She had several publications to her credit including a book titled” PEOPLE & ISSUES ” ,a collection of her articles published in her columns in New Nigerian Newspapers and Daily Trust.

She hailed from Ajobe in Ojoku District in Ankpa LGA of Kogi State . She is survived by her husband, siblings and relations.
