Gov. Sule Reassures Corps Members of Safety in Nasarawa, Promises Conducive Environment

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety, welfare, and equal opportunities for Corps Members deployed to the state for the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC).
Represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Kwanta Yakubu, the Governor gave the assurance while declaring open the 2025 Batch ‘B’, Stream Two NYSC Orientation Course for Corps Members posted to Nasarawa State at the Magaji Dan Yamusa Permanent Orientation Camp, Keffi.
In a statement issued by Eche Amos, Head of Public Relations, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Governor Sule congratulated the Corps Members on successfully completing their academic journey and taking the oath to serve the nation in line with the Scheme’s mandate.
Commending both the State and National NYSC management for sustaining the ideals of the Scheme’s founding fathers, he noted that the programme has continued to foster unity, integration, and development by building entrepreneurial capacity among youths. He assured that Nasarawa State would remain peaceful and supportive, pledging to provide the necessary assistance to enhance NYSC’s effectiveness.
The Governor further promised to respond to the Scheme’s request for a functional ambulance to handle emergencies at the camp, as well as an operational vehicle for the NYSC Zonal Office in Lafia to ease mobility. He urged the Corps Members to take the Orientation Course seriously and make meaningful contributions to nation-building.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Salamatu Abdulrahman Muhammad, said the Orientation Course was designed to equip Corps Members with practical, social, and leadership skills to prepare them for the challenges of service. She explained that the training also instills discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility necessary for national development.
According to her, a total of 2,200 Corps Members—comprising 1,020 males and 1,180 females—were successfully sworn in by the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, represented by Justice Mustapha Ramat, who administered the National Pledge and Oath of Allegiance.
Mrs. Salamatu expressed gratitude to Governor Sule and the State Government for their consistent support to the Scheme and appealed for more assistance, especially in the provision of ambulance and operational vehicles.
The event was graced by top dignitaries, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, represented by Hon. Garba Mohammed Isimbabi, Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan; Chairman of Karu Local Government, Barr. Abubakar Aliyu Madaki; and a representative of Keffi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Idris Damagani.
Also in attendance were the NYSC North Central Zonal Director, Grace Ogbu-Ogebe; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Students’ Affairs, Rt. Hon. Shuaibu Sani; as well as directors and senior management staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
