The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to promoting inclusion and uplifting the indigenous people of the FCT.
Speaking during a media parley in Abuja, Wike emphasized that the indigenous communities have made immense sacrifices toward the development of the FCT and should be accorded equal opportunities and recognition like every other Nigerian.

He noted that the elevation of traditional rulers, along with the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy for indigenous lands, serves as acknowledgment of their leadership and contributions.
The Minister further revealed that the FCT Administration is intensifying efforts to deliver road and water infrastructure across satellite towns, aimed at opening up rural areas and improving residents’ living conditions.
According to him, arrangements are in progress to relocate residents of Kpaduma village to Wasa District, where necessary infrastructure is being put in place to ensure a smooth transition.
Wike also assured residents that work on the Karu project is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed and inaugurated during President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
He added that the administration is prioritizing human capital development, with contracts already awarded for the renovation of more than 200 schools, alongside increased attention to the health sector.
On security, the Minister disclosed that notable progress has been recorded, particularly with security agencies curbing the activities of “One Chance” robbery syndicates.
He called on residents to support government projects by fulfilling their tax obligations, stressing that federal allocations alone are inadequate to meet infrastructure and administrative expenses.
Addressing political concerns, Wike dismissed allegations that he was positioned to undermine the PDP, maintaining that his actions are guided strictly by the law and the party’s constitution.
He reaffirmed his backing for President Tinubu, expressing confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
On recent security challenges in Plateau State, Wike cautioned against politicizing unfortunate incidents, commending President Tinubu’s empathy and urging citizens to embrace collective responsibility in ensuring security.
