FCTA opens Abuja bus terminals, targets illegal parks.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced operations at the Mabushi and Central Bus and Taxi Terminals in Abuja as part of efforts to eliminate illegal motor parks and improve commuter safety.

The Mandate Secretary of the FCT Transportation Secretariat, Mr. Chinedum Elechi, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abuja. He urged commuters and transport operators to comply with the new arrangements, describing the initiative as a major step toward modernising the capital city’s transportation system.
Elechi explained that the new terminals are designed to provide residents with safer, more organised and efficient travel facilities. He also announced that the FCTA has concluded plans to construct additional modern bus terminals to further strengthen the territory’s transport network.
According to him, the operation is part of the administration’s broader vision of transforming Abuja into a world-class city through sustained investment in transportation infrastructure. He added that with operations now underway at two of the three terminals, informal loading points, including Berger and Area One roundabouts, will gradually be phased out.
