Easter: Tight security as FCT Police intensify patrols across churches, recreation centres

The FCT Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel alongside operational assets to churches and recreational centres across Abuja in preparation for the 2026 Easter celebration.


This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, who said the initiative is designed to reinforce security and guarantee the safety of residents and worshippers throughout the festive period.

According to the statement, the deployment features increased visibility policing, intelligence-driven operations, as well as coordinated vehicular and foot patrols.
It added that Explosive Ordnance Disposal units have also been detailed to carry out routine sweeps of key public and recreational venues.
The statement further highlighted that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, called on residents to uphold peace, unity, and mutual respect in line with the spirit of Easter.
It assured members of the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while also urging cooperation to ensure a peaceful celebration.
