U.S. Personnel Departure Based on Protocol, Security Situation Under Control – FG
The Federal Government has clarified that the recent advisory by the United States authorising the departure of non-emergency embassy personnel in Abuja is a routine precaution guided by internal procedures.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that the move does not in any way reflect the general security situation in Nigeria.
He assured Nigerians and members of the international community that public institutions across the country remain fully functional, with no disruption to governance, economic activities, or daily life.
The Minister further explained that ongoing security operations—supported by military efforts, intelligence-driven strategies, and inter-agency cooperation—are delivering measurable results in affected areas.
According to him, these actions have helped dismantle criminal networks, reduce security threats, and enhance safety in vulnerable communities, while the majority of the country continues to experience stability.
He also stressed that Nigeria remains open for business, travel, and investment, and called on international partners to ensure balanced and current reporting.
