New AIG for Zone 4 Assumes Office in Makurdi, Calls for Citizens’ Support

A new Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Dankombo Morris, has officially assumed duty as the 44th AIG in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, Benue State.
This development was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen and signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 4 Makurdi, ASP Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police.


Following his assumption of office, the new AIG called on citizens of Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States to remain law-abiding and continue to support the Zone by providing timely and accurate information to enable swift and effective action against crime and criminal activities.
The statement described AIG Dankombo as a seasoned police officer with extensive experience, having served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles across the country. It noted that his contributions to internal security and police reforms have been remarkable.
AIG Dankombo hails from Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in History from the University of Maiduguri and a Master’s degree in International Relations. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has steadily risen through the ranks due to his dedication and exemplary service.
According to the statement, “AIG Dankombo is a distinguished and accomplished senior police officer whose career is marked by professionalism, discipline, and exceptional leadership.”
It further highlighted that he has undergone numerous tactical, operational, and leadership trainings, including the Combat/Operational Course at the Mobile Training Camp in Gwoza, Citizenship and Leadership Course at Shere Hills in Jos, Advanced Detective Course at the Police Staff College (2001), and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos (2017), among others.
Throughout his career, he has held several key positions such as Patrol and Guard Officer, Administrative Officer, and Divisional Crime Officer in Bali, Taraba State (1995–1997). He also served as Divisional Police Officer in Bali (Taraba), Hadejia (Jigawa), Gamboru Ngala (Borno), and Owerri West Division (Imo) between 2013 and 2018.
Other roles include Directing Staff at the Police Staff College, Area Commander in Birni Gwari (Kaduna) and Rano (Kano) between 2018 and 2019, as well as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and Operations in Yola, Adamawa State.
He later served as Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command from 2024 to 2026 before his elevation to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
AIG Dankombo now heads Zone 4 Headquarters in Makurdi, covering Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States. He is widely respected for his strategic insight, operational expertise, and unwavering commitment to duty.
He is married and blessed with children.
