By Iyojo Ameh
The Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to strengthen the recovery of outstanding housing loans and enhance financial accountability within the public service.
The partnership was formalized on Thursday during a high-level meeting between both agencies in Abuja. According to the FGSHLB, the initiative is designed to ensure that public funds disbursed as housing loans are properly managed and repaid in line with existing regulations.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Hajiya Salamatu Ladi Ahmed, said the collaboration represents a major step toward enforcing compliance and preserving the sustainability of the housing loan scheme for future beneficiaries. She noted that defaulters would be held accountable as the Board intensifies efforts to recover overdue payments.
In his remarks, the ICPC Director of Operations, Mr. S. Yahaya, applauded the Board’s proactive approach. He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to assisting government agencies in curbing financial infractions through enforcement, investigation, and preventive mechanisms.
Both agencies said they will work jointly to apply appropriate enforcement actions where necessary.
The FGSHLB urged all beneficiaries with outstanding balances to take advantage of the ongoing recovery window to regularize their accounts and avoid sanctions.
