Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The governor confirmed his defection on Saturday, May 2, 2026, after obtaining his membership card in the APM.

His move is expected to significantly alter the political dynamics in Bauchi State, where the PDP has traditionally held strong influence.

Prior to this development, Mohammed had already indicated his intention to contest for the Bauchi South senatorial seat in the 2027 elections. With his latest move, he is now set to pursue that ambition under the APM platform.
