The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Senator David Mark, has called on party leaders to unite and reposition the party as a credible alternative for national leadership.

Speaking at the party’s 2nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Mark stressed the need for discipline, internal cohesion, and adherence to democratic principles within the party.

He commended members for their loyalty and sacrifices, noting that their dedication continues to strengthen the party despite prevailing challenges.
According to him, the meeting comes at a critical time when Nigerians are yearning for purposeful leadership, equity, and justice. He described the responsibility before the party as not only political but also moral and historic.
Senator Mark urged party leaders to rise above personal interests and focus on building a strong, people-oriented platform capable of driving national renewal. He emphasized the importance of expanding grassroots engagement and fostering inclusiveness across regions, religions, and generations.
The ADC chairman also highlighted the need for unity, describing it as non-negotiable, while urging members to close ranks and deepen consultations to strengthen confidence in the party’s leadership.
He appreciated state chairmen for embracing dialogue and consultation, expressing optimism that collective efforts could help salvage Nigeria.
Addressing national issues, Mark decried the rising insecurity, kidnapping, and violence across the country, describing them as troubling realities that have become widespread.
He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress, accusing it of failing to effectively address the country’s security challenges.
Mark, however, assured that the ADC is prepared to take a different approach in tackling the nation’s problems and building a safer and better society.
He further called for collaboration with like-minded individuals and groups, emphasizing that strategic partnerships are essential to rescuing the country from its current challenges.
The ADC chairman encouraged members to approach deliberations with patriotism and a shared vision, expressing confidence that with unity, discipline, and commitment, the party would achieve success.
