The semi-final stage of the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted by Morocco, has been confirmed following the conclusion of the quarter-final matches on Saturday night.

Four teams—Egypt, Nigeria, host nation Morocco, and Senegal—remain in contention for a place in the final and will battle for qualification on Wednesday, January 14.

Hosts Morocco will face Nigeria in one semi-final clash, while Senegal will lock horns with Egypt in the other eagerly awaited encounter.
Egypt, seven-time AFCON champions, secured the final semi-final berth after edging defending champions Côte d’Ivoire 3–2, ending the Elephants’ hopes of retaining their title and setting up a showdown with Senegal.
Earlier, Senegal booked their place with a narrow 1–0 victory over Mali in a fiercely contested West African derby. Iliman Ndiaye’s first-half strike proved decisive.
In Rabat, Morocco maintained their title push with a convincing 2–0 win over Cameroon. Goals from Brahim Díaz and Ismaël Saibari highlighted the Atlas Lions’ attacking quality and defensive solidity.
Nigeria completed the semi-final lineup with a 2–0 triumph over Algeria in Marrakech. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring, while Akor Adams sealed the win with a late goal to set up a clash with the hosts.
Semi-final fixtures:
Senegal vs Egypt: Wednesday, January 14, at the Grand Stade de Tanger, Tangier (6:00 PM WAT).
Nigeria vs Morocco: Wednesday, January 14, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat (9:00 PM WAT).
The tournament will climax with the final match scheduled for January 18 in Rabat.
