Former Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State.

In a resignation letter submitted to the APC in Lafia on Monday, Adamu said his decision to leave the party was not taken lightly, but was influenced by recent developments within the party, especially the conduct of the governorship primary election process in Nasarawa State.

“I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the APC with immediate effect. This decision wasn’t taken lightly. However, recent developments within the party, particularly the conduct of the governorship primary election process in Nasarawa State, have made it difficult for me to continue my political activities under the platform of the party,” Adamu stated.
He added that internal democracy, fairness, transparency and equal opportunities for all aspirants are critical principles that should guide the affairs of any democratic political party.
“I strongly believe that internal democracy, fairness, transparency and equal opportunities for all aspirants are essential principles that must guide the affairs of any democratic political party. Unfortunately, the events surrounding the primary elections do not reflect these principles, and that has led to a loss of confidence in the party’s leadership and processes in the state,” the former IGP declared.
Adamu further disclosed that after wide consultations with his supporters, political associates and family members, he had decided to withdraw his membership from the APC and pursue his political aspirations on another platform.
“After wide consultations with my supporters, political associates and family members, I have decided to withdraw my membership and pursue my political aspirations through another platform,” he said.
He appreciated the opportunity given to him to contribute to the growth of the party during his time as a member and thanked party members at the ward, local government and state levels for their cooperation and support.
“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity given to me to serve and contribute to the growth of the party during my period of membership. I also want to thank members of the party at the ward level, local government level and state level for the cooperation and relationships built during my membership period.
“Kindly accept this letter as my formal resignation from the party,” the letter read.
