The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has said it is mobilising support across political parties to secure victory for its presidential candidate, Engr.

Seyi Makinde, in the 2027 general elections, describing the Oyo State governor as the symbol of the new Nigeria many citizens desire.

The party said its ongoing alliance discussions with opposition groups are making steady progress, adding that the initiative is positioning the APM as one of the fastest-growing platforms for opposition forces seeking to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Speaking in Abuja, APM National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, welcomed the public reaffirmation of support by the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which endorsed Governor Makinde as its preferred presidential candidate while maintaining its identity and structure within the PDP. The endorsement followed a gathering of thousands of PDP members and supporters in Ado-Ekiti last Friday.
Yusuf described the endorsement as a significant boost to the party’s campaign, saying Nigerians, particularly young people, are increasingly rallying behind Makinde because of his record in Oyo State. According to him, the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, agriculture, economic development and civil service welfare have strengthened his appeal as an alternative candidate for the presidency.
He said the APM remains committed to expanding its support base through alliances with like-minded political parties, noting that more endorsements are expected in the coming months. Yusuf added that the party is focused on building a strong structure and running an issue-based campaign aimed at winning the 2027 presidential election.
The APM spokesperson also said the party’s democratic ideals, commitment to transparent governance, improved security, economic recovery and sustainable development are attracting Nigerians. He assured that, if elected in 2027, the APM would prioritise the safety, welfare and prosperity of citizens in line with the party’s vision for national renewal.
