The Benue State Government has introduced a fully digital and automated system for the issuance of land titles and the processing of title transfers, aimed at eliminating bureaucratic delays and reducing the hardship associated with land administration in the state.

This was made known on Wednesday in Makurdi by Mr. Terna Kawen, Director of Capacity Building and Stakeholders Engagement at the Benue Geographic Information Service (BENGIS).
Kawen disclosed that Governor Hyacinth Alia has ordered strict compliance with the newly introduced online application process for land-related services.
He explained that the initiative was implemented by BENGIS in partnership with the Ministry of Lands and Survey and the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC).
According to Kawen, the new system features a modern online application portal that enables landowners and prospective applicants to apply for land titles and process title transfers from any location.
“The portal, developed and powered by BDIC, is accessible via www.bengis.benuestate.gov.ng. It is designed to streamline land transactions, enhance transparency, and eliminate the stress of repeated visits to the BENGIS office in Makurdi,” he stated.
He further revealed that during a recent stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Makurdi, Governor Alia expressed concern over the lengthy and cumbersome procedures previously involved in obtaining land titles.
Kawen noted that the governor emphasized that the digitisation initiative was introduced to reduce the burden on citizens and promote efficiency in land transactions across the state.
He added that the governor has issued a firm directive that all applications for land titles and title transfers must henceforth be processed solely through the online platform.
According to him, the new system allows applicants to submit applications, monitor their progress, and complete all required processes online from the comfort of their homes.
He therefore encouraged members of the public to embrace the innovation, describing it as a major step toward modern governance and improved ease of doing business in Benue State.
