The Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Nation, His Royal Majesty, the Agaba-Iduh, Dr. John Odogbo, has given his royal blessing to former Benue State Commissioner for Finance, Dr.

David Olofu, in support of his ambition to represent Benue South Senatorial District.
The royal blessing was pronounced when Dr.
Olofu paid a consultation visit to the Och’Idoma’s Palace in Otukpo, the headquarters of Idoma land.
Addressing the royal father during the visit, Dr. Olofu, who is contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), outlined his vision for the senatorial district, with emphasis on security, agriculture, healthcare and education.
He pledged to deploy modern technology to address insecurity, empower rural women through agricultural training programmes, and improve healthcare delivery across the district.
Dr. Olofu also assured that he would expand the scholarship scheme he introduced two years ago for indigent students in the senatorial district, which has so far benefited over 200 students with N100,000 each, while also promoting science and technology education.
According to him, his manifesto includes the establishment of a People’s Assembly and a Senatorial Council to drive sustainable development, encourage inclusiveness and promote unity among stakeholders.
He further pledged to collaborate with fellow lawmakers, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders to achieve his goals, stressing that effective leadership is rooted in responsibility and inclusivity.
In his response, the revered royal father, who is also a chartered accountant and spiritual leader, commended Dr. Olofu for his commitment to the development of the district. He noted that he had been praying for a leader with the fear of God and genuine love for the Idoma people, expressing confidence that Dr. Olofu possesses such qualities.
Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of David’s rise to leadership, the monarch offered prayers and blessed Dr. Olofu, saying, “May God grant you your heart’s desires.”
The royal endorsement has further energized Dr. Olofu’s campaign and boosted the morale of his supporters, who describe him as a transformative leader capable of unlocking the full potential of the district.
As preparations begin towards the 2027 general elections, Dr. Olofu’s senatorial bid is expected to gather momentum, with his vision for progress continuing to resonate with the electorate.
Dr. Olofu was accompanied to the palace by the First Class Chief of Apa/Agatu, Agangwu Baba Odangla; former Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Chief Godwin Ukpoju; former Secretary to the Benue State Government, Professor David Salifu; Chief Donald Agida; Prince Okwute; and former member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Honourable Baba Otache.
Others in the delegation included Pastor Oowo Ameh, Dr. Adakole Elijah, Hon. Rose Ameh, Hon. Dan Atayi, Hon. Abuh Echo, Hon. Ramat Yusuf, Pastor Omale, members of the Benue South Lawyers Forum led by Barrister Ada Oche, the nine ADC chairmen in Benue South Senatorial District, among others.
